Glass Hymnal
Glass Hymnal is a four-piece ensemble comprising cello, viola, prepared piano, and electronics. Founded in Melbourne's thriving experimental music scene, the group takes its name from the interplay of light and sound in sacred architecture. Their compositions are built on repeating, slowly evolving patterns inspired by the works of Steve Reich and Arvo Part, but refracted through modern production techniques. Their debut Project Lyra release 'Penumbra' was recorded live in a decommissioned cathedral, capturing the natural reverb and acoustic imperfections of the space as an integral part of the composition.
